In June, Marty had the privilege of speaking at back-to-back teen camps for the Indiana North District in Fairmount, IN. (It’s the main reason our blog updates have been few and far between lately.) The kids and I went along on the road trip, and we are so glad that we did. Not only did we get to be a part of the things God did at the camps, but we got to drive around visiting our Hoosier family and friends.
We were tickled to find out that Zach Buhler, one of our ringbearers, was a camper during junior high week; and Lauren Johnson, our flower girl, was at senior high week. It also made us feel very old.
I know that Marty won’t want to toot his own horn about camp, so I got a hold of some messages he received from the teens afterward. I love these affirmations of how God used him during those 2 weeks.
Hello, Pastor Marty. You probably don’t know me, but I was one of the campers at Sr. High Camp in Fairmount where you spoke a few days ago. I was one of the ones whose feet you washed at Pine Lake, and I just wanted to say that we all (including myself) consider you the best speaker we have had there in a long time. You are absolutely in love with God and your family, and allow the word of God to flow through you freely. And those facts mean a lot, considering I am the son of a Wesleyan pastor and have been going to these camps for as long as I can remember. So if you are freaked out by this or can’t accept my friend request because you’re so popular and you don’t want your computer to blow up from so many friends or something then I understand, but I just know that sometimes speakers, pastors and evangelists don’t always get the praise, acclamation, or “attaboys” that they deserve. God loves you, and will continue to use you in your ministry to touch several more young lives. I wish the best for you and your family for many years to come, and you are in my prayers.
Your proud-to-be-called-brother in Christ,
Clayton

I never would have recognized Lauren. You are getting old! Good to see the Buhler kids too. Thankful for all the seeds planted and harvest reaped at camp!
