I recently had the privilege of meeting two new friends. Nate and Laura will be joining the TreasureField family this summer for a 10 week internship. They’ll help out with two other church plants in our district as well, but will likely spend most of their time with us. Each year, OWU takes applications for their church planting ministry teams. These teams of students get paired up with a Wesleyan church plant that seems to fit them. I couldn’t be more excited about who was chosen for us. They each have a driving passion to show compassion to the hurting and introduce Jesus to the spiritually disoriented. I’m not exactly sure yet what the Lord will have for them to accomplish while they’re here, but that’ll come in due time. Nate and Laura will be huge additions to our team, no matter what their assignments are. Well, as you can tell from the picture, Nate will be a huge addition and Laura will be a small one.
While I visited OWU with the rest of the shown church planters (totally awesome guys by the way), I also took extra time to visit friends and family in the area. Chris and Becky, are doing an awesome job leading youth to live, love, and lead in their neighboring community. They also bought me the greasiest meal I’ve eaten in years at Murphy’s. Mike is a top-notch youth pastor at First Wesleyan Church. Among other things, he united youth pastors in the area around a massive Bible distribution effort… they highlighted key verses and hand delivered over 3,000 Bibles to nearly every student in the city! Last, I visited my brother and his 5 kids in Tulsa. Mallory did a “Free Massage” that cost $5. Jack tore it up on the soccer field… he’s what I call scary-good. We enjoyed church together in their living room and lots of late-night talks. Why are those always the best?

We can’t wait to meet them! I’m sure they’ll have new and different perspectives.
